If you try using a link like this you get "A security Problem has occured " error and does not display the page in the browser(IE)". To fix the bug MS says to wait for SP2 or to call them for a hot fix. You can read the information here.

It is kiind of silly that MS has had problems relating to this type of issue for
versions 2000 - 2003. Now I have to call them for a fix or wait until the
next SP update? I dont think so. VBA to the rescue!

The code below I placed in the vba section of the powerpoint file. To call the code I highlighted the item (word, sentence or picture),right clicked and selected "Action Settings". This brings up a window where you can select the macro you wish to run from the "Run Macro" drop down list when your hightlighted item is clicked. In my case this drop down list showed "Link1" and "Link2" for the macros below.

Sub Link1()
' Macro recorded 7/26/2005 RMS100
LinkString = "https://your.link1.com"
CallLink (LinkString)
End Sub

Sub Link2()
LinkString = "https://your.link2.com"
CallLink (LinkString)
End Sub

Sub CallLink(LinkString As String)
Dim IElink As Object 'create the object
Set IElink = CreateObject("InternetExplorer.Application")
'test = IElink.HWND
IElink.Visible = True
IElink.Navigate LinkString
Set IExp = Nothing
End Sub

You Don't Know Jack About Firefox!

If you feel that the Web has lost its sparkle, that's probably because you're slogging across it in an old browser. To do this we display a special image on your screen and then use the auto adjustment feature in your monitor's internal settings. Harris:
Every hour, 10x10 scans the RSS feeds of several leading international news sources, and performs an elaborate process of weighted linguistic analysis on the text contained in their top news stories. After this process, conclusions are automatically drawn about the hour's most important words. The top 100 words are chosen, along with 100 corresponding images, culled from the source news stories. At the end of each day, month, and year, 10x10 looks back through its archives to conclude the top 100 words for the given time period. In this way, a constantly evolving record of our world is formed, based on prominent world events, without any human input.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://jbican.blogspot.com/2004/11/10x10-100-words-and-pictures-that.html' title='10x10 / 100 Words and Pictures that Define the Time / by Jonathan J.
